It feels as though we’re standing at the edge of the moment when you take a deep breath before stepping from the known world into something new and infinitely exciting. After all this time, it is hard to believe that we’re nearly there and that this is all real. But it is real and became even more so when we saw the final version of the cover and we knew that J.M. Tremblay’s design and illustrations perfectly recreated the world as we had imagined it. In a very little while we will have something tangible (the proofs in the form of an actual, physical book) in our hands. And then soon after that, our story, the world we’ve created, will be available to everyone.
I know we couldn’t have done this without Hetty’s determination and ideas and without the tireless effort of our editor.
Colin and Robin and their mates and Taihandria and her people have been with us for a very long time and it makes me a little nervous to think of sharing them with any but a select few readers. At the same time, it is amazing to think that someone else, some unknown person out there, might read the story and find, in that world, something of the same delight that we do.
